Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga are located in Nashik district of Maharashtra state of India. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is an ancient Hindu temple and is very revered among Hindus. In this temple, crowds of devotees can be seen in the months of Shivaratri and Shravan. In this hindu shiva temple, Shiva devotees from every corner of the country come to visit the trimbakeshwar temple.
The Kund (holy tank) named Kusavart, built by Srimanta Sardar Raoosaheb Parnerkar, is inside the temple complex. The main source of India’s longest river Godavari is near Trimbak. According to history, the present temple was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao (Nanasaheb).
This sacred Nasik Shiva Temple is situated between three hills (Brahmagiri, Nilgiri and Kalagiri). Situated in the temple there is a 92 feet tank called Amritvarshini. Three other waters, namely Bilvatirtha, Vishwanathatirtha and Mukundatirtha are also inside the temple complex. This holy Nasik Shiv Mandir also houses the shrines of many monasteries and saints, images of various deities like Gangadevi, Jaleshwar, Rameshwar, Gautameshwar, Kedarnath, Rama, Krishna, Parashurama and Lakshmi Narayana are seen inside the temple complex.
Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling is a Hindu religious site, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga located here is its three faces which take the form of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Rudra. This trained Shiva Linga is covered by a crown made of diamonds, emeralds and many precious stones.
The Sri Nilambika / Dattatreya / Matamba temple is situated on the top of the Nile mountain. According to the Puranas, once Parashurama was doing penance and all the deities came to this mountain to see his penance. When Parshuram ji’s penance ended, he requested all the deities to stay there and a temple was built for these deities. All these trained temples are located 1 km away from the Shiva temple.
Many festivals are celebrated in Trimbakeshwar temple but two festivals are celebrated with great pomp.
During the month of Mahashivaratri & Shravan, this temple has a crowd of devotees at its peak. Held in February or March, Mahashivratri is a special day for the devotees. On this day, Shiva devotees fast for the whole day and worship Shiva with great ritualistic rituals.
The Kumbh Mela is one of the largest religious ceremonies in the world. Held once every 12 years, this festival attracts millions of devotees who gather to take a holy dip at Godavari.
You can visit the temple anytime. Crowds of devotees stay inside the temple every day. But an ideal time is between October to March.
Tryambak is a small city, it has no railway station or airport. However, it is very easy to reach the temple.
The nearest airport to this temple is Nashik (Ojor) Airport. Trimbakeshwar is about 30 to 40 km from the temple, which can be easily reached by bus or taxi.
The nearest railway station of the temple is Nashik Road. The temple is 37 km away from this railway station. This temple can be easily reached by state transport, private taxi.
It can also be reached easily by road to Shiva temple. It is well connected to every highway.
