Why is the famous world’s third largest Akshardham temple – Akshardham is a Hindu temple complex located in New Delhi, India. It is one of the largest Hindu temple complexes in the world and was inaugurated in 2005. The temple complex is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan and his teachings.
The temple complex is spread over 100 acres and features several buildings, including the main temple, exhibition halls, musical fountains, and a water show. The main temple, also known as the Akshardham Mandir, is a stunning architectural marvel made of pink sandstone and white marble. The temple is 141 feet high and features intricate carvings and sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses.
Apart from the temple, the complex also features several exhibitions that showcase the values and teachings of Lord Swaminarayan. The exhibitions include a multimedia show, a boat ride, and a 3D film that takes visitors through the life of Lord Swaminarayan.
Visitors to the temple complex are required to follow strict rules and regulations, including dress codes and restrictions on photography and electronic devices. The temple complex is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays.

All electronic items such as mobiles, cameras, pen drives, bags, purses, etc. are not allowed.
Photography is prohibited as no camera or mobile is allowed.
The main temple cannot be worn with a shoe, but it is permissible to wear a shoe in the Akshardham complex.
Wallets, purses, mobile phones, and shoes are not allowed in the Akshardham temple.
Generally, Swaminarayan takes about 6 to 8 hours to visit Akshardham Temple.
The approximate distance between Akshardham metro station to Akshardham temple is about 2 kilometers or less.
One can visit the Akshardham temple from 9:30 to 7 pm Tuesday to Sunday of the week, the temple remains closed on Monday.
Belts, purses, or any other leather items are not allowed in the Akshardham temple.
Spread over 162 acres, the actual cost of building the Akshardham temple was not known yet. However, according to some reliable reports, the construction of the temple has cost more than $ 150 million.
